Timothy Kendel Bye, 59, of rural Poneto, IN, and with ties to Warren, IN, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at his home.Mr. Bye graduated from Blackford High School in 1980. He attended Blackford Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver for McCammon Trucking and Online Transport out of Hartford City. A U.S. Marine Corp veteran of 12 years, Mr. Bye served in the Operation Iraq Freedom. Gulf War, Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Desert Sabre. He also drove semi trucks in Iraq as a private contractor for 40 months after his discharge. He was born on May 10, 1962, in Hartford City, to Wendel and Jahala Wigmore Bye. His mother survives in Poneto. He married Tracy Schlotter Bye on Oct. 21, 2000, at Chester Center Church. She survives in Poneto. Additional survivors include four children, Dustin (Kimberly) Schlotter, of Hartford City, Erica (Cody) Garrison, of Butler, Wesley (Kimmy) Elkins, of Warren, and Marshel Bye, of Poneto; a sister, Peggy (George) Mansfield, of Poneto; mother-in-law, Shirley (Bill McKeever) Schlotter, of Montpelier; and nine grandchildren, L’trel Schlotter, Savannah Schlotter, Victoria Garrison, Aaragorn Garrison, Alexander Garrison, Arya Garrison, Alleigh Elkins, Ardyn Elkins and Remington Elkins. Calling will take place on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Steve Lakie and Rev. Wayne Couch officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier, with military rites performed at the graveside.
