Robert Paul Heiney, 84, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., at his residence.
Mr. Heiney graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1954. He grew up on the family farm and continued to farm in his adult years. He had joined the Carpenter's Union of Marion for a few years and then worked as a construction worker for Marathon Construction building K-mart Stores. He started his own family construction business, Heiney & Sons Construction, with his sons. Later he sold the business to his sons and worked for Lawrence Construction before retiring from Swifty Oil after 10 years of service. He was a member of the St. Peter's First Community Church of Huntington.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1936, in Huntington, to Fred Heiney and S. Marie Draper Heiney. He married Jean Ann Biehl on Sept. 6, 1958, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2018.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Sue (Hal) Schwartz, of Markle; two sons, John Christopher Heiney, of Huntington, and Gregory Allen (Marci) Heiney, of Andrews; three grandsons, Zachary Ryan (Danielle) Schwartz, Robert Maxwell Schwartz and Johnathan Allen (Kim) Heiney; a granddaughter, Chelsea Marie Heiney; and a great-granddaughter.
Calling will take place on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Charles Vernon officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
Burial will be in St. Peter's First Cemetery in Huntington.
