Richard R. “Dick” Snyder

Richard R. “Dick” Snyder, 88, of North Muskegon, MI, and with ties to Huntington,  IN, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.

Mr. Snyder graduated from Bippus High School. He worked as a machine operator for the city of Muskegon, MI, before retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1932, in Whitley County, to Harry and Emma Rupley Snyder. He was first married to Vera M. Buckley. On July 3, 1970, he married Naretta M. “Rita” Foster in Fennville, MI. She preceded him in death in 2007.

Survivors include five children, Richard (Donna) Snyder, Treva (Terry) Beach, Valarie (Gary) Anderson, Patrick Snyder and Vanessa (Todd) Hyrns; three step-children, Vickie Murphy, Tom (Tami) Foster and Lorraine (Paul) Grabinski; two sisters, Virginia Doenges, of South Whitley, Jo Ann Byers, of Warsaw; and a brother, John Snyder, of Leesburg.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Murphy; and a granddaughter, Amy Flemen.

A private graveside service will take place at Fruitland Township Cemetery.

A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at noon, at South Whitley Community Building, 118 E. Front St., South Whitley.
