John Combs, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at 10:20 a.m., at Envive Healthcare of Huntington.
Mr. Combs was a coal miner in Kentucky and moved to Indiana, where he worked in a rubber factory in Fort Wayne. He then worked in tree service until he retired. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Huntington.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1930, in Garrett, KY, to Grant and Minnie Hall Combs. He married Florence Sexton on Jan. 9, 1954. She preceded him in death Nov. 22, 1997. He then married Barbara Gordon and she also preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jo Ann Berger, of Huntington, Glenda (James E. III) Foster, of Huntington, and Betty L (Daniel) Bingham, of Huntington; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia McClure.
Calling will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Memory Chapel at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 11201 S. Marion Road 35, Marion, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Rev. Brunk Conley will officiate.
