Janet Gail Stoffel, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.
Mrs. Stoffel was a 1960 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. She received her B.A. and M.A. from St. Francis College. She retired from Huntington County Community School Corporation as an elementary school teacher. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington County Retired Teachers Association, I.S.T.A. and N.E.A. She was named Huntington County Community School Corporation “Elementary School Teacher of the Year” in 1993 and 1994.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1942, in Huntington, to Mark and Evelyn May Frewer Bowman.
She married Wallace Stoffel on July 1, 1967. He survives and resides in Huntington.
Additional survivors include two sons, Kyle (Michelle) Stoffel, of Fort Wayne, and Douglas Stoffel, of Columbia City; and two grandchildren, Michaela Stoffel and Luke Stoffel.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ann Stoffel.
Recitation of the Rosary will take place on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington, followed by calling hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Additional calling hours will take place on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington. Rev. Tony Steinacker will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
