Max A. Rupley, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at 1:19 a.m., at Parkview Huntington Hospital.Mr. Rupley graduated from Bippus High School in 1947. He retired from General Electric in January of 1996 after 30 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for Christman Motor Repair for 13 years. After his retirement, he worked for Rupley Farm Equipment in Columbia City. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a T/SGT during the Korean War Era. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where he also sang with the church choir. He was born on Oct. 14, 1929, in Whitley County, to Eli and Edith Bruch Rupley. He married Gloria A. Johnson on Aug. 7, 1954 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2017. Survivors include three sons, Timothy A. (Diana) Rupley, of Fort Wayne, Kevin J. (Barbara) Rupley, of Huntington, and Brian E. (Renee) Rupley, of Greenfield; a daughter, Sue E. (William) Scheiber, of Huntington; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at 2:30 p.m., with calling to follow from 3 to 8 p.m., at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at 10 a.m., at the church, with Rev. Tony Steinaker officiating. There will be one hour of calling prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Services of Huntington County, Parkview Home Health Care & Hospice or SS.
