Viola "Vi" M. Van Meter, 66, of Columbia City, IN, and with ties to Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at her home.
Mrs. Van Meter attended Columbia City Joint High School. She had worked at various factories over the years and retired from Square D in Huntington in 2012. She had attended Community Hope Church in Columbia City.
She was born on June 12, 1955, in Whitley County, to Gilbert M. and Rose E. Quinn Hiscutt. She married Melvin C. Van Meter Jr. on March 31, 1973. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Melvin Van Meter III; a daughter, Naomi (Michael) Mertens; two brothers, Anthony Wayne (Joyce) Hiscutt and Alvin Hiscutt; five grandchildren, Natasha Mertens, Sidney (Erin Lewellen), Catherine Van Meter, Trinity Van Meter and Franklin Mertens.
Calling will take place on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m., and again from 6 to 8 p.m., at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.
