Eldon E. Meitzler

Eldon E. Meitzler, 87, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Meitzler graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He retired after working 33 years at Noll Printing in Huntington.  He also worked as a janitor at St. Mary School and as a school crossing guard for Huntington Catholic School for many years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntington.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1934, in Huntington, to Godfrey and Hulda Roth Meitzler. He married Roberta Young on Aug. 25, 1956, in Huntington.  She survives and resides in Huntington.

Additional survivors include four sons, Philip (Tami) Meitzler, of Fort Wayne, Joseph (Lisa) Meitzler, of Middleburg, FL, Michael (Julie) Meitzler, of Bluffton, and David (Sherry) Meitzler, of Roanoke; 10 grandchildren, Danielle (James) Higgins, Meagan (Jay) Richardson, Allen (Katie) Meitzler, Brittany (Cody) Thorne, Heather (Justin) Zagora, Jessica  (Joe) Anderson, Mitchel Meitzler, Ryne Wemhoff, Tyler (Taryn) Wemhoff and Grant Meitzler; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at 4:30 p.m., followed by calling from 5 to 7 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington.

Additional calling hours will take place on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, from 9 to 10 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Thomas Zehr officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.
