Ronald Eugene Shaw, 91, of Wabash, IN, and with family in Andrews, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at 7:11 p.m., at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester.
Mr. Shaw was a 1956 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked at Allison General Motors, Honeywell Incorporated and retired from Ford Meter Box in Wabash in 1995. After retirement, he worked for Coast-to-Coast/True Value and Honeywell Golf Course. He was a Roann Volunteer fireman, served as chief for 22 years and also was a volunteer at the Honeywell Center. He belonged to the Wabash Friends Church, the Wabash American Legion Post No. 15 and was a former member of the Roann Lions Club and the Pell City, AL, Lions Club.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1930, in Cincinnati, OH, to Ronald and Hazel Nell Butler Shaw. He married Laura Belle Hughes on Dec. 12, 1953, at McCord Air Force Base Chapel in Tacoma, WA. She survives in Wabash.
Additional survivors include three children, Ronald Bruce Shaw, of Roann, Leslie Keith Shaw and Mary Carol (Phillip) Hendrick, both of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Missy (Eric) Wilson, of Wabash, Rick Swope, of Andrews, Jakae Swope, of Fort Wayne, C. Taylor Hendrick, of Indianapolis, Phillip Mark Hendrick, of Boston, MA, and Elliott Morgan Hendrick, of Dallas, TX; nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Lannell Shaw; and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Shaw.
Calling will take place on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Wabash Friends Church, 3563 S. Ind.-13, Wabash, with one hour of calling prior to the service. Brandon Eaton and David Phillips will officiate.
Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery.
