Dr. Daniel Patrick Roland

Dr. Daniel Patrick Roland, 75, of Wabash, IN, and with ties to Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at 6:45 p.m., at Parkview Wabash Hospital.

Dr. Roland was a 1964 graduate of DuVal High School in Glendale, MD. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving one tour in Vietnam. He received his bachelor’s and master’s from Ball State University and his educational administrative and doctoral degrees from Indiana State University. He served as the administrator at Heartland Career Center several years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Wabash Elks Lodge, the Wabash American Legion Post No. 15, a life member of the Wabash VFW Post No. 286 and a life member of the DAV in Marion.

He was born on March 15, 1946, in Dayton, OH, to Joseph William and Viola Bernadette Bollheimer Roland. He married Jan Lauer on Nov. 28, 1981, in Huntington. She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Jacob Patrick Roland, of Chicago, IL; and three siblings, Ronald W. (Karen) Roland, of McKinney, TX, Timothy John (Carmen) Roland, of Pharr, TX, and Lois (Jeff) Khraling, of The Villages, FL.

Calling will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, from 3 to 7:30 p.m., at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with a rosary service to immediately follow.

A memorial mass will take place on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 188 W. Sinclair, Wabash. The family recommends masks being worn but it is not required.

Inurnment will be in Falls Cemetery at a later date.
