Wilma Holmes

Wilma Holmes, 97, of Huntington passed away on December 17, 2021 at Envive Health Care in Huntington. Wilma had worked at Memcor for 23 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Salvation Army Church and was a woman of faith, she and Kenneth were very active in the church. She was a former member of the Ladies Home League. She had helped with latchkey kids at Central School and the church for many years. Wilma loved to go fishing and camping over the years with her husband, Kenneth.

Wilma was born on August 22, 1924 in Raford, Florida, the daughter of the late Jeff and Reba (Anderson) Green.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Holmes on August 12, 1944 in Lake Butler, Florida. Kenneth preceded her in death on April 6, 2010.

Survivors include a son: Gerald Holmes of Huntington; six daughters: Marjie Burke of Huntington, Lana Bolding of Huntington, Dana Williams of Huntington, Sharon Rainwater of Andrews, Shirley Newsome of Huntington, Linda Clark of Andrews; 18 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Margaret Hall; three sisters: Murley Dyer, Lennie Earhart, Joyce Garrison; five brothers: Ray Green, Roger Green, Donald Green, Frank Green, Merritt Green; two grandsons: Chad Rainwater, Cary Bolding and two infant grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Salvation Army Church, 1424 E. Market Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
