Robert Fettinger Sr.

On December 22, 2021 Robert Fettinger Sr. passed away at home just 2 weeks shy of age 90.

Cherished husband of Yolanda Fettinger and preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Fettinger his sister, Nan Yoder and brothers Kenneth, Merrill, Wilbur, and Rowan.

Loving father of Alicia (John), Steve (Kelly), Robert, Jr. (Dana), Charles (Media), and Jim (Tiffany).

Proud grandfather of Cortney, Justin, Melissa, Trevor, Alexys, Tasha, Isiah, Claire, Benjamin, Maria, and preceded in death by Peter, Gabriel, and David.

He was also a proud great-grandfather to Shane, Mars, Paxton, Addison, Elijah, Ozdon, Theadore and Remington.

He was a US Air Force veteran and lifelong artist, doing many paintings and murals that can be seen at the local American Legions Post 7 and 85, VFW, Huntington County Historical Museum and The Forks of the Wabash Museum.

He had a long career as a draftsman and designer working for Wabash Magnetics for over 35 years.

Robert was a music and classic movie aficionado, a walking encyclopedia and always had stories to match every movie and/or actor - he even met Charleston Heston in one of his first movies.

At the age of 25 he planned to circumnavigate the world starting with Mexico City — instead, he ended up meeting the love of his life, Yolanda, at a New Year’s party and within 3 months they were married – never mind they didn’t speak the same language.

His sense of humor and fair play demonstrated his moral character, light hearted jovialness, and empathy for others. Towards the end he used winks, hand gestures and stuck his tongue out to joke - even doing his Donald duck voice.

After 65 years of marriage, 5 children, and adventurous travel, one of his greatest joys was being a grandfather and great-grandfather.
