Edgar “Ed” L. Grider

Edgar “Ed” L. Grider, 90, of Bluffton, IN, and with family ties to Huntington, IN, died Saturday Dec. 11, 2021, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton.

Mr. Grider graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1951 on the front line during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician out of the I.B.E.W., Local 305, for over 50 years on construction sites locally and nationally. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 857 of Fort Wayne, where he served as the Past Commander and District Commander along with his membership in the American Legion Post No. 111 of Bluffton.

He was born on March 24, 1931, in Albany, KY, to Frank and Ruby Arlene Handcock Grider. He married Constance I. “Connie” Hinesley Grider on June 13, 1981, in Bluffton. She survives in Bluffton.

Additional survivors include four children, Gary L. Grider, of Fort Wayne, Kevin R. (Betty) Grider, of Huntington, Terrie (Bill) Esterline, of Albion, and Traci (Rick) Waggoner, of Bluffton; a sister, Loretta Harris, of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kurt A. Grider; a daughter, Tonia Rene Furnish; and a grandson, Richie Grupy.

A funeral service took place on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Sutton officiated.
