Jon Mack Pinney

Jon Mack Pinney, 84, of Bloomington, IN, and with ties to Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital following a heart attack.

Mr. Pinney graduated from Huntington High School in 1955 and then joined the Navy. During that time, he toured the Mediterranean aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. He was employed broadly, with jobs ranging from an International Harvester purchasing agent to microfilm technician; he also coached a champion youth boxing team in Fort Wayne,

He was born on June 4, 1937, in Huntington, to Max F. and Evelyn A. Pinney. His first wife survives. His second wife preceded him in death. He married Jennifer Combs in 2020 and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Scott (Sandy) Pinney, of Huntington; two daughters, Melissa (Dean) Shaffer, of New Haven, and Stephanie (Jeff) Stephen, of Angola; a brother, Jim D. Pinney, of New Mexico; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling will place on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m., at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, Bloomington.

Memorial donations may be made to Wheeler Mission or the Brown County Humane Society, in care of Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington.
