
Sara J. Hamilton, 77, of Fort Wayne, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, and North Port, FL, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Huntington High School in 1962. She was a homemaker and retired as a bank teller and had worked at Community State Bank, Huntington, and First National, Roanoke. She was a member of St. Peter’s First Community Church, Huntington.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1944, in Tyler, TX, to Richard P. and Martha Stewart Lee. She married Efford Hamilton on April 20, 1963, at St. Peter’s UCC, Huntington. He survives and resides in Fort Wayne.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Lori Smith, of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Gage Girvin, Elizabeth Harvey, Alexandra (Jacob) Howard and Sophia Smith; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Michelle Hamilton and Amy Harvey.
Calling will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington.
Additional calling hours will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m, with a funeral service to follow, at the funeral home. Rev. Adam Jones will officiate.
Burial will be St. Peter’s First Community Cemetery in Huntington.
