Norma Isabelle Krile Kitt

Norma Isabelle Krile Kitt, 91, of Andrews, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at 6:01 a.m., at Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Kitt was a member of the Andrews United Methodist Church, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Andrews-Dallas Township Friends of the Library Society, Shakespeare Society; Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge. She was a graduate of Dallas Township High School and attended Huntington College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a major in speech and drama and a minor in communications. She later attended St. Francis College and received a Master’s Degree in English. She taught at Northfield Jr.-Sr. High School in Wabash County for 15 years where she was the sponsor of the school yearbook and was a regular volunteer judge for various speech competitions. She retired from teaching in 1989.

She was born on April 2, 1930, in Wabash County, to John Earle Krile and Edna Isabelle Earhart Krile. She married Jay M. Kitt on April 6, 1947, at Andrews United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Renee (Mike) Chenault, of Roann; two sons, Kyle (Brenda) Kitt, of Andrews, and Tyler (Brittany) Kitt, of Bluffton; three sisters: Lindal Knotts, of Clermont, FL; Jeannie Waymire, of Peru, and Carol Close, of Bippus; 13 grandchildren, Danielle (Bruce) Galbraith, Heather Chenault (Jeremey Stephans), Patrice Chenault, Michael (Ellie) Chenault, Jason (Brooke) Kitt, Brandon (Ashley)Kitt, Jay Rhoads, Jonathan (Arica) Rhoads, Jordan (Savannah) Rhoads, Ethan Kitt, Eli Kitt, Evan Kitt and Elayna Kitt; and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Michele Ann (Kitt) Rhoads.

Calling will take place on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with services to immediately follow, at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington.

Interment will be at Mississinewa Cemetery on State Road 13 in Somerset. Due to the distance to the cemetery, there will be no funeral procession.
