Ralph L. Johnson

Ralph L. Johnson, 85, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mr. Johnson was a 1954 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He owned and operated Johnson Petroleum and Johnson Junction, Inc. from 1971 to 1999. He was past president of Indiana Oil Marketers Association and past director of Petroleum Marketers Association of America. He was also past president of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce and Huntington County United Economic Development. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and was a member on the administrative and financial board. He was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus.  He was past director of Community State Bank and past director of Bippus State Bank. He was a board member of the Huntington University Foundation. He was director in the Percheron Horse Association and was a member of Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club. He was a board member on the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Association and was a Rotarian.

He was born on Nov. 8, 1936, in Huntington, to J. Edward and Stella M. Meyer Johnson. He married Barbara L. Eckert on July 3, 1954, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2015.

Survivors include a son, Ryan (Robin) Johnson, of Huntington; four daughters, Cindy (Douglas) Spice, of Huntington, Polly (Jack) Dennis, of Roanoke, Darlene (Brent) Stanley, of Huntington, and Elaine (David) Felton, of Huntington; a son-in-law, Arden Anson, of Roanoke; 17 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carla Johnson and Karen Anson.

Calling will take place on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. Recitation of the rosary will take place at 1:30 p.m.

A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington.

Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
