Thomas L. Laymon

Thomas L. Laymon, 91, of Montpelier, IN, and with ties to Warren, IN, died on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Laymon was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Warren High School in 1948 and attended Ball State University. He worked at the Warren Tribune and later as the editor and publisher of the Montpelier Herald Newspaper. He was a member of the Montpelier Millard-Brown American Legion Post No. 156 and served on the American Legion Color Guard. He also served as treasurer and was an elder at the Church of Christ in Montpelier. He was a member of the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce, the Montpelier Kiwanis Club, Blackford County Community Foundation and the Alcohol Beverage Commission of Indiana.

He was born on June 21, 1930, in Huntington, to Ruskin and Lucy Evelyn Bonham Laymon. He married Mary Alice Dunwoody on June 15, 1958, in Warren.  She preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Brian (Peggie Love) Laymon, of Dunkirk; a daughter, Cheryl (Daryll) Bultemeier, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Stephen Laymon, of Warren; sister-in-laws, Mara Jane Laymon, of Texas, and Mary Kay Dunwoody, of Indiana; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bultemeier  and Amanda Bultemeier.

Calling will take place on Saturday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home with funeral services immediately following.  Rev. Gerald Moreland will officiate.

Burial will take place at Thompson Home Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Millard-Brown American Legion Post No. 156 and the U.S. Air Force.
