Nancy Ellen Matheny

Nancy Ellen Matheny, 87, of Huntington, IN, died on Saturday, April 2, at 4 a.m., at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mrs. Matheny graduated from Kokomo High School with the Class of 1952. She earned her bachelor's degree from DePauw University in 1956. She taught elementary school. She volunteered with the Red Cross. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Bridge Club, the Book Club, First Mother's Club, Tri Kappa Associates, and the PEO Sisterhood.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1934, in Kokomo, to Joe Cain and Helen McIntosh Cain. She married Stanley H. Matheny on June 15, 1957, in Kokomo.  He survives her in Huntington.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Deborah L. (Mike) Schnepp of Huntington, Susan Matheny, of Fishers and Jill Fuqua of Fishers; a son, Tom (Alison) Matheny of Huntington; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Calling will take place on Friday, April 8, from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to noon, with funeral services immediately following at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Rev. Dale Linhart will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
