Joseph Kelly Hunnicutt

Joseph Kelly Hunnicutt, 90, of Fort Wayne, with ties to Huntington, died on Tuesday, April 5, at 2:12 p.m., at Story Point, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Hunnicutt was a 1949 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 44 years from Our Sunday Visitor. He was then employed by Huntington County Community Schools for 10 years.   He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a VFW Post No. 689.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1931, in Huntington, to Rosel and Mary C. Kelly Hunnicutt. He married Margaret “Margie” Kennedy on Jan. 4, 1958.   She survives in Fort Wayne.

Additional survivors include four sons, Matthew Hunnicutt (Werner Ochoa), of Chicago, IL, Martin (Breck Ann) Hunnicutt, of Fort Wayne, Vincent Hunnicutt, of Huntington and Todd Patrick Hunnicutt, of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Mary “Peggy” (Ted) Billings Frost, of Arvada, CO; one sister, Mary Sellers, of Huntington, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Rapczynski; a son, Michael Hunnicutt; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hunnicutt and two grandchildren; Jerin Hunnicutt and Caleb Hunnicutt.                     

Calling will take place on Friday, April 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Recitation of the rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Additional calling will take place on Saturday, April 9, at 10 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev.Thomas Zehr will officiate.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in  Huntington.
