Marion Elias Burkett, 100, of Columbia City, died May 4, at 3:30 p.m., at Miller's Merry Manor in Columbia City.
Mr. Burkett graduated from Clare High School with the Class of 1943.
He worked as a pastor in congregations in several states and Canada and as a missionary in Southeast Kentucky and Sierra Leone West Africa for the Church of The United Brethren in Christ, United Methodist and Missionary churches.
He was born April 15, 1922, in Monroe County, Mich., to William Burkett and Nettie Heck Burkett. He married Frances Helene Coulter Aug.14, 1943, in Clare County, Mich. She preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by a son, Stephen P. Burkett.
Survivors include three sons, David L (Julie) Burkett, of Franklin, Pa., Mark A (Sandy) Burkett, of Churubusco, and Philip L. (Darlene) Burkett, of Cass City, Mich; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling will take place 10 – 11 a.m., May 17, with funeral services immediately following, at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Chaplain Kurt Snyder will officiate.
