Ray Williams, 70, of Huntington, died May 11, 11:33 a.m., at Bright Star Senior Living in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Williams graduated from Huntington North High School with the class of 1970. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp.
He served as Andrews Town Marshal before becoming a Huntington County Sheriff’s Deputy. He served as Huntington County Sheriff. He later worked as Huntington Street Department Superintendent and at Lutheran Hospital. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 2689, Loyal Order of Moose Chapter No. 837 of Huntington and American Legion Post No. 160 of Roanoke.
He was born Jan. 3, 1952, in Hazard, Ken., to of Edward "Ed" Williams and Faye Arms Williams. He married Janna Rae Burkhart, Feb. 20, 1971, in Columbia City. She survives in Huntington.
Additional survivors include two children, Jill R (Rudy) Hieber, of Fort Wayne, and Joseph "Joe" E.R. (Ashley) Williams, of Huntington; a sister, Kathy (Van) Juillerat, of Andrews; a brother, Jeff (Betty) Williams, of Fort Wayne; two stepsisters, Vicki (Matt) Snodderly, of Huntington, and Brenda (Galen) Stoffel, of Huntington; a stepbrother, Rick (Linda) Wood, of Columbia City; and seven grandchildren, Derek (Emily) Smiley, Dustin Smiley, Brayden Hieber, Rylee Williams, Preslee Williams, Makinzee Williams and Wyatt Williams.
