Joseph Harris

Joseph Harris, 92, of Fort Wayne, with ties to Huntington, died May 22, at his residence.

Mr. Harris was a 1948 graduate of Clear Creek High School. He worked for K-Mart for 41 years. He was a member of Cornerstone Alliance Church in Roanoke. He made several mission trips to Africa and Nicaragua.

He was born on April 27, 1930, in Warren, to Milo and Lucielle Dalrymple Harris. He married Elsie L. SwalesJuly 6, 1949, in Huntington.  She preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, John Gregory Harris.

Survivors include children Julie (Tom) Wood of Columbia City, Richard “Rick” (Pat) Harris, of Columbia City, Jeffery Harris, of Spenser, and Ted (Sari) Harris, of Muncie; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Calling will take place May 27, 4 – 8 p.m., at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Funeral services will be held May 28, 10 a.m., at Myers Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
