Rachel Mae Truitt

Rachel Mae Truitt, 101, of Huntington died May 30, at her residence.

Mrs. Truitt was a member of E.S.A. Sorority in Huntington. She volunteered at Huntington Memorial Hospital/Parkview Huntington Hospital as for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

She was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Greensboro, N.C., to Thomas Ruffin Lucas and Bertha Mae Lowe Lucas.  She married Homer W. Truitt Jan. 20, 1945, in Greensboro, N.C. at Lee’s Chapel Methodist Church. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Carolyn) Truitt and James (Nancy) Truitt, both of Huntington; four grandchildren, Stacey Truitt, Stephanie Truitt, Jennifer (Aaron) Carl and Phillip (Ashley) Truitt; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling will take place June 8, 10 – 11 a.m., with funeral services immediately following at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Dr. Sam Young will officiate.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
