Thomas Gelzleichter

Thomas L. Gelzleichter, 76, of Columbia City, and formerly of Huntington and Roanoke, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at his residence.

Thomas had worked for over 30 years at Kresge / Kmart Distribution Center in Fort Wayne retiring in 2002. After retirement, he did course care and maintenance at Norwoods Golf Course and also delivered vehicles for Bob Rohrman. Thomas was a 1965 graduate of Huntington High School.  He then served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the 11th Infantry 5th Division. Thomas was a member of the American Legion Post 98 and was a life member of the VFW.  He was a member of the NRA, he also enjoyed photography, fishing and he was a collector of everything.

Thomas was born on Feb. 8, 1946, in Huntington, a son of George W. and Margaret (Marshall) Gelzleichter.

Survivors include a daughter: Christy (Mark) Spencer of Huntington; a son: Don (Kelley) Gelzleichter of Corona, Calif. and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother: Mary Gelzleichter and a brother James Gelzleichter.

Visitation and military rites presented by VFW 2689 were Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Memorial donations can be made out to either the Paralyzed Veterans of America or the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, both sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
