Erma McIlnay

Erma Mae McIlnay, 94, of Huntington, passed away on July 4, 2022, at her residence in Huntington.

Erma was born on Jan. 2, 1928, in Hammond, to Russell Sylvanus and Maude (Pulaski) Myers.  Her parents preceded her in death.  She married Glen McIlnay, He preceded her in death.

Erma was an English major and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich.  She spent her teenage years in Indiana before moving to Michigan with her first husband.  She later remarried to Glen McIlnay.  Erma returned to Indiana and lived in Huntington after Glen’s passing.

She had many wonderful neighbors and a special friend Melissa who took care of her in her later years. She operated The Little Professor Book Store in Traverse City, Mich., for many years and later worked in customer service until she retired.  She loved writing, literature and nature.  

She is survived by two children, Carl R. Taulbee and Gale (Robert) Simon both of Algonac, Mich.; a granddaughter Alyssa Leigh Taulbee; her younger sister Marilyn Mihalic of California.  

Erma had three nieces and one nephew. Michael Mihalic (deceased) with one daughter Cindy and her son Ayden, Dawn Mihalic (deceased), Pam (Bill) Bogner and Suzanne (Rick) Andrade.  Suzanne has two daughters Kristen and Caeli and two great grandnieces to Erma, Aria and Laurel.

To honor the wishes of Erma there will be no services.  May all that knew her be blessed with love.  She is now at peace.
