Clyde “Ed” Stapleton

Clyde "Ed" Stapleton, of Auburn, IN, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at his home in Auburn. He was 85 years old.

He was born on Sunday, Nov. 1, 1936, in Pennington Gap, Lee County, VA. He married Laura Pauline Lyons on Saturday, Dec. 15, 1956, in Gate City, Virginia.

Stapleton attended school in Lee County, VA and was a member of the Blackford Baptist Temple Church in Hartford City, IN. He retired from Sheller Globe in Montpelier and formerly worked at Griffith Rubber Mills in Garrett, IN., and as a custodian for the Blackford County Schools. Later in life he enjoyed working as a door greeter at the Auburn Walmart, as well as fishing, hunting, bowling, and his American Bullies (bulldogs).

 He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura Pauline (Lyons) Stapleton, Auburn, IN.;three daughters, Brenda (Steven) Woolard, Keystone, IN., Margaret (Michael L.) Willmann, Montpelier, IN., Jeanette McConnell, Angola, IN.; two sons, Dewayne E. Stapleton, Angola, IN., and Dougles E Stapleton, Auburn, IN.; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Diane Webb; three brothers-in-law, Ray, James, and Dennis; two sisters-in-law, Roszella and Betty Jo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Stapleton; mother, Lucy (West) Stapleton; brothers, Bob and Jimmie; great-grandson, Austin Kreischer; and brother-in-law, Charles D. Lyons.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier, IN 47359, on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, from 4 - 7 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, one hour before the service.

A service to celebrate his life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, with Pastor Les Bantz officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
