Doris May Waters

 

Doris May Waters, of Huntington, passed away at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Doris was born on April 29, 1958, in Huntington, the daughter of Joseph Ferguson and Millicent (Rybolt) Ferguson.  She graduated from La Porte High School with the Class of 1977. Doris worked at Huntington Electric and Hickory Creek Nursing Home. She loved going to church, playing bingo, and reading books. Doris was an Elvis Presley fan and she enjoyed gospel music. She was a member of New Hope Church in Huntington.

Survivors include her daughter, Millie Waters of Huntington; two sisters, Zelia Marie Chevalier of Woodville, Ohio, Millie (Ron) Kiefer of Akron; two brothers, Charles (Malinda) Ferguson of Huntington, John (Jeanette) Ferguson of Rochester; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Millicent G. Ferguson, father, Joseph W. Ferguson, daughter, Anna May Schnitz, sister, Kathy Garrison, grandson, Wayland Phillips, granddaughter, Miranda Slater, and four infant siblings.

A memorial service will be at New Hope Church at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be made in memory of Doris to Millie Kiefer, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington.

Carol also loved crocheting, gardening, puzzles, card games, county music, and hummingbirds. Mostly she cherished activities that included her entire family.

Her husband Chuck survives Carol; she was the love of his life. Also surviving are her four children; sisters Linda, Faye, Sally, and Jayne; as well as her beloved grandchildren and an abundance of great-grandchildren.

       Memorial services are being held at the American Legion Post 241, Fort Wayne, on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 for family and friends.
