Steven “Steve” D. Burnworth, 72, of Silver Lake, passed away at 7:09 am Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Steve was born on March 6, 1950, in Huntington, the son of Walter "Curly" Burnworth and Meriam (Beck) Burnworth-Weinley. He had attended Huntington County schools and received his GED. He married the love of his life Carol Sue Hasty on Jan. 8, 1984, in Andrews. He retired from Majestic-CFM of Huntington after many years of service.
Steve enjoyed cooking, baking, and grilling for others. He was handy with tools and spent several hours remodeling homes. He liked to be outdoors working in his yard or helping the neighbors. He always looked forward to family gatherings and holidays. He truly had a heart of gold and his love for others was known. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and taking them to the park to play.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Carol Sue Burnworth of Silver Lake; daughter, Meriam S. Burnworth of LaFayette; son, Steven J. Burnworth, Jr. of LaFayette; five grandchildren; two brothers, Monte (Beverly) Burnworth of Liberty, and Tim (Karen) Weinley of Huntington; sister, Rochelle (Greg) Pressler of Huntington; sister-in-law, Annette Burnworth of Huntington; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter "Curly" Burnworth; mother, Meriam Burnworth-Weinley; sister, Sondra Burnworth; and brothers Dennis Burnworth, Mike Burnworth, and Rick Burnworth
Visitation was from 1 – 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
