
Jill Kathryn, age 58, of Andrews, passed away peacefully at 8:06 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
Jill was born on July 31, 1964, in Fort Wayne. The daughter of John VanRyn and Patricia (Carter) VanRyn. She graduated from Huntington North High School with the class of 1982. Jill married the love of her life James "Jimmy" E. Bickel on May 22, 1997, in Huntington. She worked at Wabash Magnetics for a few years then went on to be an inspector for Economy Machine Products of Roanoke for 32 years. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post #160 of Roanoke.
Jill liked to sit back and observe her surroundings, whether it be watching her grandkids play sports, hanging out by the pond with friends and family, or sitting by the campfire waiting to see the perfect sunset. She always looked forward to vacationing in Florida and going to the beach with her husband. Jill was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, her family was the most important element of her life. She was blessed to be called grandma and treasured all the memories made with her grandkids. Her loving heart and fighting spirit will live on in those who loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 25 years, James “Jimmy” Bickel, two sons, Nick (Laura) Rodgers of Huntington, Scott (Allie) Bickel of Columbus; two daughters, Marisa Ray of Andrews, Sherri (Garth) Stout of Huntington; five sisters, Juanita (Ernest) Wheeler of Fort Wayne, Ann VanRyn of Fort Wayne, Julie (Roger) Andrews of Decatur, Rose (Steve) Lunn of Fort Wayne, Janet (Michael) Thomas of Roanoke; brother, John (Dee) VanRyn Jr. of Largo, Florida; three granddaughters, Ruthie, Lilly, Kynsington; and two grandsons, Christian, Brandon. She is preceded in death by her, father, John E. VanRyn, Sr., mother, Patricia VanRyn, and son-in-law, Brandon D. Ray.
Visitation will be from 3- 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Chris Hayden officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. The burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke.
