Cynthia was born on Sept. 21, 1957, in Bluffton. The daughter of Larry Chapin and Elaine (Richardson) Chapin. She graduated from Huntington North High School with the class of 1975 and continued her education at Indiana Wesleyan where she received her associates degree in business administration. Cynthia married the love of her life Dennis M. Shideler on Aug. 23, 1975, in Huntington. She was employed for many years at Wal-Mart, in the human resource department and pharmacy. Cynthia was a faithful member of the Faith Community Church of God in Huntington; and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. post 2689 of Huntington.
Cynthia had a bigger than life personality, she was outgoing, feisty, ornery, and always had a good sense of humor. She was an avid crafter, the master of monster cookies and enjoyed making plates of Christmas goodies to share with others. Cynthia’s favorite places to go included her countless trips to craft stores. She always looked forward to autumn and the changing of the leaves. Cynthia absolutely loved to go camping with friends and family. Her main passion was her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Cynthia was devoted to her family and a true matriarch.
Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Dennis M. Shideler of Huntington; mother, Elaine M. Chapin of Huntington; son, Travis W. (Kasey) Shideler of Farmersville, Ohio; daughter, Kathleen "Kat" A. (Kortney Hum) Shideler of Roanoke; two sisters, Melanie S. Jones of Pennsylvania, Johanna (Damian) Sigman of Colorado; and five beautiful blessings she called her grandchildren, Holt, Lanie, Lily, Addie and Sadie.
