Tommy L. Tobin

Tommy Leoris Tobin, 82, of Huntington, beloved son of the late Beulah (Nee Reavis) and the late Robert Tobin peacefully passed away on Dec. 1, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Tom was born on Sept. 12, 1940 and worked his entire career for the Kresge Corporation. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served as an Army Infantryman with specialized instruction in various phases of highly technical skills. One of his proudest moments was when his son also joined the service nearly 29 years to the day after he enlisted. He was an avid basketball player and was the leading scorer on the 1958 County Regional High School Championship team at Huntington Township High School. While he was firm, Tom was always fair and willing to lend a helping hand. Especially when it came to his family. He was also a man of faith and loved the Lord. Tom enjoyed cooking, sports, westerns, spending time in his yard and being with his beloved dog Rex. Most of all he treasured the time he spent with his family.

Tom was the youngest son in a large hard working family. His siblings included the late Norma Jean, the late Robert Leo, the late Margaret Ann (Paul Badger), James Marvin, the late Betty Josephine (Jimmy Ollinger), Jerry (Jess), the late Fred, the late Patricia Sue and the late Roberta Connie. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews, especially Cheryl and Jerry Tobin.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Veech, 2012. Tom is survived by his children, Mary Sawertalio (George), Rochelle Yasine (Mo) and Tommy Tobin. Loved dearly by his grandchildren, Ben and Spencer Veech, Madeline, Kathrine and Gregory Sawertailo, Sarah and Lauren Yasine, and Lilly and Elias Tobin.

A remembrance will be held at the Huntington VFW Friday, Dec. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m.
