Michael “Mike” S. Burton, age 77, of Andrews, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 12, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
Mike was born on June 23, 1945, in Huntington. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1963, and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mike retired from the Erie Railroad and also worked for Ralph Johnson and United Technologies. Throughout his life, Mike owned and operated several businesses. He was a member of the VFW Post #2689 in Huntington, and the American Legion Post #248 in Lagro. As a loyal Indiana University basketball fan, Mike planned his schedule around IU's games. He also enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting.
Mike was a life companion to Shirley Fisher for many years. Additional Loving Survivors include: Jean (Alan) Herd, Heather (JoJo) Godwin (with kids Morgan, Drew & Brooklyn); Ed Fisher; Tammy (Jeff) Pederson, Dasha Jessen (with son Jace), Carson (Sizele) Pederson; Amy (Shane) Austin, Bailey (Erica) Fisher (with daughters Ireland & Willow), Brock Austin, Maggie Austin; Cheryl Dennis, Meghan Cormany (with son Joseph), Amanda (Teron) Shepard (with daughter Fyona); Cynthia Cormany, Matthew Hubley, Caitlin Cormany, and Cassidy Cormany.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice (Stands) Burton, and by beloved Betty Cormany.
