
Jack W. Wendel, 88, of Wabash Township in Jay County (New Corydon), passed away at 2:14 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on Saturday, Feb. 13, 1934, in Clinton County. He married Joan Ellsworth Wendel on Sunday, July 06, 1952, in Portland. Jack was a 1952 graduate of Jefferson Township School. He served his country in the US Army. Jack later became a tool and die maker. Jack had worked for Central Soya in Decatur and CTS in Berne, where he later retired. He had also worked abroad in Taiwan and Scotland. Jack attended the Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a member of Berne American Legion. Jack was an avid golfer, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, he taught good gun safety, he could build anything. Jack enjoyed his family.
Jack will be lovingly missed by his wife of 70 years - Joan J Wendel, Bryant, his children - Ronald A. (Joyce) Wendel, The Villages, Florida and Donald "Donnie" W. (Beth) Wendel, Monroe; son-in-law, Dan Mosier, Willshire, Ohio; five grandchildren, Quentin Berry, Sturgis, Michigan; Miranda Berry, Monroe; Christopher Wendel, Delaware; Kimberly Wendel, West Chester, Pennsylvania; Shaun Wendel, Greenfield; sister, Betty Patch, Geneva, and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vilas Wendel and his mother, Velda Wendel, children; Sharyl Mosier, and Stevie J. Wendel, brother, Bobby Wendel, sister, Judy Wendel, and brother, Jimmy Wendel.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, from 2 to 7 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the Berne American Legion Post, at 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home,.
A service to celebrate his life will be at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, with the Rev. Dan Layden officiating.
