Mark W. Parrett, 78, of Huntington, passed away at 3:30 pm Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation.
Mark was born on April 20, 1944, in Huntington, the son of Arthur Parrett and F. Mary Wood. He graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1964. Mark married Sylvia A. Thomas on May 26, 1967, in Huntington; she preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2014, after spending 46 years together. He retired from General Electric Fort Wayne after 34 years of service. He also worked as a scuba diver for the City of Huntington with the Civil Defense & Civil Defense Rescue. Mark was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #160 in Roanoke, IN, as well as a former member of the Tuesday Men’s Breakfast group from the Nazarene Church. Mark loved to roller skate and gardening. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing and taking trips to fish in Canada.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Parrett of Huntington; son, Matthew W (Priscilla) Parrett of China; Companion, Susan Marlow of Huntington; two brothers, Kenny D. Parrett of Huntington, David L. (Diane) Parrett of Huntington; five grandchildren- Wade Thomas, Marc Owen, Selina Nicole, Jennifer Nicole, and Katherine May; and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia A. Parrett, father, Arthur J. Parrett, mother, F. Mary Wood, and grandson, Brandon Lee Olivares.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Matthew Parrett officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Etna Cemetery in Huntington.
