Barbara “Jone” Grover Smith, 82, of Warren, passed away at 12:39 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Wells County on Sunday, Aug. 25, 1940, to the late Omer Verl & Orah Etheleen (Culp) Grover. She married James Edward Smith on Sept. 19, 1958, in Bluffton, he passed away on May 1, 2010. Jone’s passions were gardening, reading and cooking for her family on Sundays. She also loved seeing and spending time with her great- grandchildren, who called her Gigi.
Loving survivors include her daughters Cammy Ackley, Warren, Trudy (Mike) Murray, Warren, Robin (Todd) Cunningham, Liberty Center, Kelly (Todd) Knowles, Liberty Center, son Toby (Tammy) Smith, Warren, 15 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren, siblings Jim Grover, Bluffton, Bill Grover, Bluffton, Carolyn Garman, Warren, and Cindy Valentine, Bluffton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Mike Ackley and siblings Etheleen Buchanan and Jerry Grover.
To honor Jone’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Mossburg Cemetery in Liberty Center.
