Larry D. Poling

Larry Dee Poling, 72, of Hartford City, formerly of Upland, IN, passed away at 3:19 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at IU Health Blackford Hospital in Hartford City, Indiana.  He was born on Saturday, June 24, 1950, in Marion, to the late Glen & Mary (Wright) Poling.  He married Pamela Tucker on Sunday, July 4, 2003 in Dunkirk, IN.

Larry was a 1971 graduate of Eastbrook High School. He worked for 21 years at BRC in Bluffton and Hartford City as the janitor, retiring in 2019. Larry took great pride in his job and won many awards during his time at BRC. He loved working with his “work-partner” in crime, Aaron Miller, his special “work-girls” Rochelle Hudson Cook & Misti Hudson. In his free time, as a side job, he would hang drywall years ago. Larry loved life, his kids, and grandkids. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed listening to Elvis, George Jones Gospel, and was a Jeff Gordon fan. Larry will always be remembered for his kind heart and his willingness to do anything for anyone.

Loving survivors include his wife of almost 20 years, Pamela Tucker Poling, Hartford City, son Scott (Samantha Betz) Poling, Hartford City, adopted daughters Serena (Fiancé, Cody Davis) Lester, Portland, Chasta (Jasen) Pfefferkorn, Hamilton, Kaylee Freeman, Bluffton, grandchildren Carmen Poling, Mackenzie Poling, Alex Castillo, Keaton Poling, Jazlyn Poling, Dalen Pfefferkorn, Brendan Pfefferkorn, Ava Smithson, Dax Davis, Myles Davis, sister Linda & Phil Morrison, Hartford City, sister Carol & Dave Landon, Hartford City, twin brother Jerry Poling, Marion, sister Shirley & Dan Clark, Alexandria, sister Cindy Bogue, Windfall, bother-in-laws Rick L. Tucker, Hartford City & Billy Jo Tucker, Hartford City, sister-in-law Peg Tucker, Hartford City, and grand dogs, Bruno & Pixie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Kay Poling & brother-in-law Dick Bogue.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A service to celebrate Larry’s life will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Larry Lampert officiating.  To honor Larry’s wishes, he will be cremated after the services.
