
Thomas J. Stoffel, 91, of Huntington, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at the family farm.
Thomas was born on Sept. 19, 1931 in Huntington, the son of Peter Stoffel and Mildred (Boyle) Stoffel. He graduated from Huntington Catholic High School with the class of 1949. Thomas was in the United States Army from 1953-1954 where he served as a military police officer. He then married Margaret "Peg" Rudig on Jan. 8, 1955 in Huntington. He retired from Dana Corporation of Marion, after 34 years of service. Thomas was a member of the VFW Post 2689 and St. Mary Catholic Church, both here in Huntington. Thomas loved the outdoors, whether it be fishing, hunting, or golfing. He loved to work on the farm with his family and spending time together. Thomas also enjoyed watching basketball and football on tv.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peg" Stoffel of Huntington; four sons, Steve (Dianna) Stoffel of Huston, Texas, Donald Stoffel of Roanoke, Todd (Jennifer) Stoffel of Huntington, and Christopher Stoffel of Indianapolis; six daughters, Kathy McNamee of Huntington, Cindy Scheiber of Huntington, Vicki (Troy) Hott of Markle, Connie (Bennie) Sams of Huntington, Beth (Neil) Wheeler of Indianapolis, and Jamie (Tim) Bruce of Ft. Wayne; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Dimond of Indianapolis.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Stoffel, grandson, Thom
McNamee, father, Peter J. Stoffel, mother, Mildred Stoffel, and sister, Ann Carroll.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at Bailey- Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, IN, with Father Thomas Zehr officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the mass. Military Honors will be rendered by the VFW Post 2689 Honor Guard. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.
