Douglas “Doug” Jay Fisher

Douglas “Doug” Jay Fisher, 67, of Huntington, was welcomed into heaven by his son Mark, father, Delos and dog Bailey at 5:30 am Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Doug was born on September 24, 1955, in Huntington, IN, the son of Delos Fisher and Andrea McIntosh. He graduated from Huntington North High School with the class of 1974. He married the love of his life Tina R. Laurie on August 27, 1982, in Huntington, IN. Doug had worked at Schact Rubber of Huntington and as a cook for the Roanoke Village INN in the 70’s and 80’s. He worked at Ecolab for 15 years, then took care of his father until he passed. Doug then took on the position as a security officer and worked for Parkview and Lutheran Hospitals for many years

Doug’s time spent on the court playing on the varsity basketball team for Huntington North sparked his love for sports and coaching. He helped organize the PAL Basketball Program and assisted his late son Mark in coaching travel baseball for many years. Doug never met a stranger and was always willing to help others out. He liked to travel out to Las Vegas to do a little gambling and some betting. Doug was passionate about being a true family man who loved his wife and children more than anything.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Tina R. Fisher of Huntington, IN; son, Luke E. Fisher of Huntington, IN; furry friends, Tommy Boy, Sophie, Josie, and Zoey; three additional children, Kennedy Mitchem of Huntington, IN, Shaun Mitchem of Huntington, IN, Serenidy Mitchem of Huntington, IN; Sister, Shana (Steve) Working of Huntington, IN; and stepbrother, Kevin (Cyndi) McIntosh of Bloomington, IN. He is preceded in death by his son Mark Douglas Fisher, father, Delos Fisher, mother, Andrea L. McIntosh, and stepbrother, Phillip McIntosh.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 30, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
