
James Steven McCoskey, 73, of Orcutt, Ca. passed away in the morning of February 6th, 2023. James (Jim) was born in Chicago, Il. on July 10, 1949. He moved with his family to Santa Maria, Ca. in 1988.
Jim attended Horace Mann Elementary School and Huntington High School where he Graduated in 1967. After High School, he joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Ouellet as a radarman in the Vietnam War. When he returned from the Navy he worked for E-Systems in Indiana, FetCo in Florida, Reynolds Industries and Teledyne Industries in Santa Maria from where he retired.
Jim loved his wife & son, old cars, motorcycles and guns. He and his son would tinker on cars and motorcycles and attend Santa Maria Speedway regularly. Jim was a garage guy who would tinker on everything and anything. If he didn’t have the right tool for the job, he would make one.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia McCoskey. He is also survived by his son “Little” Jim, his one sister Patricia (Ray) Bigelow of Andrews, Indiana, niece Adrienne (John) Banovetz of Michigan and great-niece, Amelia Jane Banovetz.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Jane McCoskey, and three beloved dogs, McBarker, Katie and Buddy.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at his home with The Santa Maria Valley Honor Guard Providing Taps and The 21 Gun Salute and Active Duty Naval Perssonel from Port Hueneme for ceremonial folding of the U.S. Flag.
