Charles E. Satterthwaite Jr., 91, of Huntington, passed away at 7:46 am Friday, March 24, 2023, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Charles was born August 29, 1931, in Huntington, IN, the eldest son of Charles Satterthwaite Sr. and Ruth (Kramer) Satterthwaite. He graduated from Monument City High School in 1949 and began working as a janitor with the Anaconda Wire and Cable Company in Marion, Indiana. While working his full-time job, he continued his education through Correspondence School and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. After 40 years of service, he retired from Anaconda as Plant Engineer. Through the years, Charles also made time to help with the family business, “The Spot” restaurant.
In 1950, Charles married his high school sweetheart, Jacquilyn Beals. Together they had three children, Teresa (Scott) Fisher, Charles "Chuck" E. (Teresa) Satterthwaite III and Scott J. (Janna) Satterthwaite, all of Huntington, IN. Charles married Sara Wilson in 2006. They enjoyed traveling together in their RV, especially to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where they spent time rock collecting, bird watching and enjoying the outdoors.
In addition to his children, Charles is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sara Satterthwaite of Huntington, IN; two stepsons, Jimmy (Liceyda) Richardson, Idaho, Jesse Richardson, Indianapolis; one stepdaughter, Alie Dorsett, Huntington; brother, William "Bob" R. Satterthwaite of Chicago, IL; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E Satterthwaite, Sr., mother, Ruth L Satterthwaite, sisters, Rhea Gornia and Nannette Caley, brother, Joseph A. Satterthwaite, and great-grandson Drew Bradley.
There will be a private family burial.
