Jack J. Hughes, Jr., 80, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his wife of 60 years and his children.
Jack was born on November 25, 1942, in Huntington, IN, to Jack J. and Edna (Garbert) Hughes, Sr. His parents preceded him in death. He married Linda Story on August 14, 1962, and she survives and resides in Huntington.
Jack graduated high school in 1961 from Mesa, Arizona. Jack was a truck driver for Sun Oil Co for 17 years and Ormsby Trucking for 23 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Huntington and he served on City Council in the 1970’s.
Jack is survived by one son, Jack “Jay” Hughes, III, Peru, IN; two daughters, Debra (Kerry) Schaefer, Roanoke, IN, Dianna Bates, Huntington, IN; one sister, Marsha Persell, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dwan McCune; and two brothers, Thomas Hughes and Barry Hughes.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Forks of the Wabash, 3011 W. Park Drive, Huntington, IN.
A Private burial will be at a later time.
