Naomi Overdorff

Naomi Jean Overdorff, age 97, of Huntington, IN, and formerly of Howell, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Naomi was born on June 21, 1925, in Elderton, PA, to the late Rev. Frank Ashton and Mary Emma (Ellis) Webb. Naomi married Alan Ward Overdorff on June 7, 1947, in Jackson, MI.  He preceded her in death on January 23, 2017.

Naomi’s family lived in various cities in Pennsylvania since her father was a Methodist pastor. When she was in third grade, her family moved to Alan’s home town of Brush Valley, Pennsylvania. Naomi and Alan met at church and their families became lifelong friends. Christ was at the center of their marriage of 69 years.

Naomi was a 1943 high school graduate.   She was a receiving Clerk at Sears in Howell, MI, for many years and a billing clerk for Consumer Power in Jackson, MI. Naomi loved her family and always put them before herself. She enjoyed growing flowers, especially pansies, and cutting bouquets for her home. Watching birds at her feeders and sports were her hobbies. Naomi was a fan of baseball and football, especially the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs. Naomi and Alan traveled all over the United States with their trailer. The Mackinac Bridge was definitely their favorite place, walking the bridge 13 times. Naomi and Alan were lifelong members of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy (John) Bishop of Richland, Michigan; Margaret Kay (John) Houston of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Jean (Mark) Gehrke of Huntington, Indiana; grandchildren; Kevin (Jennifer) Bishop, Bryan (Michele) Bishop, Diane Bishop (Jesse Hurley), Nicole Houston, Jennifer (Wes) Stroud, Leanne Gehrke; and four great grandchildren.
