Mary Lou Burkhart, 84, of Huntington, passed away at 3:20 pm Friday, June 9, 2023, at her residence.
Mary Lou was born on April 26, 1939, in Zanesville, IN, the daughter of Don and Mary (Martin) McBride. She graduated from East Union Center of Wells County with the class of 1957. She married Kenneth Burkhart on December 24, 1961, at Clear Creek Community Church in Huntington, IN; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2017. Mary Lou worked for Lincoln Life as a Payroll Clerk for 4 years. She then worked as a daycare provider to the children of Zanesville, IN, for 13 years. Mary Lou then retired in 2009 from Legge Elevator as a bookkeeper after 24 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Clear Creek Community Church. Mary Lou loved to travel, fish, and camp. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and granddog.
Survivors include her Two Daughters, Beth A. (Scott) Jarrett of Huntington, IN, Kimberly K Herman of Huntington, IN; Six Grandchildren, Zachary (Callan), Kayla, Kayla (Shane), Christopher, Vincent, and Alexandra (Waleed); Six Great Grandchildren, Conner, Gazzmin, Anya, Jaelynn, Cooper, and Katelyn; Granddog, Pugsley; Sister, Melba Edwards of Zanesville, IN; and Brother, David (Karen) McBride of Zanesville, IN. She is preceded in death by her Father, Don McBride, Mother, Mary McBride, Brother, Darrell Botts, Brother, Cedric Botts, Brother, Doug Botts, Brother, Roger McBride, and Brother, Maurice McBride.
There will be a memorial service with Pastor Justin Barker officiating at 10:00 am, June 25, 2023, at Clear Creek Community Church, 750 N at Clear Creek Road, Huntington, IN 46750.
