Roger Turgeson

Roger W. Turgeson, 83, of Huntington, passed away at 9:15 am Monday, June 12, 2023 at his residence.                                                      

Roger was born on February 11, 1940 in Barron, WI, the son of Stanley and Luella (Kuhrt) Turgeson. He attended Barron High School and married Judith "Judy" E. Winkelman on February 23, 1963 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Huntington, IN. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957 and proudly served for 21 years. Roger then worked for the United States Post Office in Huntington for 22 years until his retirement in 2002. Roger was a member of VFW Post 2689 and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. He loved golfing, upholstery, reading, camping with family, and traveling the USA via a travel trailer. Roger enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. He was known for his “Do it right” motto.

Survivors include his Wife, Judith "Judy" E. Turgeson of Huntington, IN; Three Daughters, Shelly T. (Andrew) Shurney of Cornelius, NC, Sheila A. (Jospeh "Bret") Finney of Wesley Chapel, FL, Tracy L. (Michael) Hughes of Noblesville, IN; Sister, Nancy (Chuck) Miller of  MN; Brothers and Sisters in WI, Ronald (Pat) Turgeson, John Turgeson, Doug (Kathy) Turgeson, Rose (Clayton) Wold, Beverly (Loren) Huset, Norma Lundequam, Victoria Walker, Karen (Doug) Kurschner, Kristy Nelson, and Louann Turgeson; Eleven Grandchildren, Jennifer (Mitch) Vonderau, Andrew M. (Aleksandra) Shurney, Chris Shurney, Gwen Shurney, Lauren (Sergio) Asturias, Brooke Finney, Nicole Finney, Elena Hughes, Erin Hughes, John Hughes, and Colin Hughes; Three Great Grandchildren, Connor Seals, Mara Vonderau, and Sergio Asturias; Many Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his Father, Stanley Turgeson, Mother, Luella Turgeson, Brothers, David, Jeff, Stuart, and Donald Turgeson, Sisters, Rebecca Ordway, and Patricia Farr.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am - 11:00 am Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 648 North LaFontaine Street, Huntington, IN.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Lorenz officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
