Donna Ruth Martin, 85, of Andrews, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 15, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Donna was born on September 10, 1937, in Huntington County, IN, the daughter of Virgil Smuts and Ruth (Kinch) Smuts. She graduated from Andrews High School with the class of 1955. Donna married the love of her life Dale L. Martin on 12/27/1955, in Huntington, IN. They shared 40 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 16, 1995. Donna was a faithful Christian and a member of the Abundant Fellowship Church of Huntington, IN. She retired from Huntington North High School after many years in food service.
Donna was an excellent cook, liked working jigsaw puzzles and playing a round of golf with her son. She enjoyed going fishing, feeding her birds and always up for a game of Yahtzee. Donna’s devotion to serving her Lord was one of the most important aspects of her life and attending bible study as much as possible. She adored her family and loved when they would come for visits. Donna always had an open-door policy, and everyone was welcomed.
Donna is survived by her two sons, Mark A. Martin of Huntington, IN, Nick D. Martin of Andrews, IN; three grandchildren, Cody, Nicky, Christina, Brandi, Jeremy, many nieces and nephews and her loving kitty LT. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale L. Martin, son, Greg A. Martin, father, Virgil Smuts, mother, Ruth Smuts, brothers, Rex Smuts, Herb Smuts, Doug Smuts, Bob Smuts, Danny “Butch” Smuts, and sisters, Bonnie Baker, Doris Benfatti, Margret Smuts, Louise Lawson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2023, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Scott Snodderly officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Riverside Cemetery in Andrews.
