David Garrett

Dennis W. Garrett, 88, of Huntington, formerly of Bristol, RI, passed away at 6:30 am Sunday, June 18, 2023 at his residence. 

Dennis was born on July 19, 1934 in Huntington, IN, the son of Carl R. Garrett and Irene D. (Emley) Miller. He attended Huntington High School and after 27 years together, married Joyce E. Kline on February 1, 2020 in Huntington, IN. He proudly served in the United States Navy from September of 1952 to September of 1956, and was a Korean War Veteran. Dennis was a member of the Moose Lodge #837, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2689, member of the American Legion Post #85, a lifetime member of the 40 & 8, and a member the National Rifle Association. Dennis retired from Isolatek (Guardian Industries) as a Mobile Mechanic in 2000. He was also the previous Owner of the Boondocks in Huntington. He loved playing pool, especially in tournaments, Texas Hold'em Poker, hunting, and fishing. Dennis enjoyed watching NCIS, he never met a stranger, and he had a very kind heart. He dearly loved all of his pets he had through the years. 

Survivors include his Wife, Joyce E. Garrett of Huntington, IN; Two Daughters, Denise Wygant of Warren, RI, Lee Ann (Earl) Dalton of Bristol, RI; Step Daughter, Pamela (Richard) Kline Zombro of North Dinwiddie, VA; Step Son, Kenneth Kline of Huntington, IN; Sister, Cristine Shockley of Louisville, TN; Brother in Law, Larry Burnworth of Huntington, IN; Six Grandchildren; Eleven Great Grandchildren; Nine Step Grandchildren; 13 Step Great Grandchildren; and Nine Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his First Wife, Mary A. Notarangelo, Mother, Irene Miller, Father, Carl R. Garrett, Step Father, Walter "Bud" Miller, Sister, Laura Larr, Brother, Dean Garrett, and Daughter, Bernadette Fortin. 

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Dennis is currently pending and will be published soon. 

Preferred memorials may be made in memory of Dennis to the SPCA, Riley's Hospital for Children, St. Judes Hospital for Children, or the Native American Rights Fund in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN, 46750.
