
Wilma Ruth Palmer, age 81, was born on March 7, 1942, in Huntington, IN to parents, Claude and Mary (Sprinkle) Krieg. Wilma died in her home on July 7, 2023, with her family by her side. Wilma fought hard, her battle with congestive heart failure and COPD.
Wilma was a loving, caring, and devoted mother, aunt, grams, and best friend. She was a cherished member of St. Peter’s First Community Church in Huntington. She enjoyed gardening, her backyard looked like a picture out of Home and Garden magazine. She loved going to watch her great-grandchildren play ball. She also liked to can the fruits of her labor at harvest time. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Wilma worked for Memcor for 32 years and Dana for 15 years. She then worked for M&S Metal until her retirement.
Wilma is survived by two daughters, Linda Boxell of Warsaw, IN and Tammy (Eric ) Gibbons of Huntington, IN, nine grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy and Justin Boxell, Nicole (Gibbons) Gareri, Megan (Gibbons) Curry, Christopher Gibbons, Erik Gibbons, Heather and Alyssa Miller, and 24 1/2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Devonna Millington, Warren, IN, and brother, Doyle Krieg, Huntington, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and former husband Benjamin Palmer.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at St. Peter’s First Community Church, 206 Etna Avenue, Huntington, IN 46750 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Adam Jones officiating. Flowers may be delivered to the church from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Lancaster Cemetery, 5999 S. 300 W, Huntington, IN 46750.
