Roger R. Heffelfinger, 59, of Huntington passed away on Thursday August 17, 2023 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Roger was a 1982 Graduate of Huntington North High School. After graduation, he attended Basic Training at Fort Benning in Georgia. Roger served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He was stationed in Iraq in 2002 and 2003. Roger worked at Union Tools in Huntington until its closing. Roger then finished his career working at Bendix. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, and camping. Roger was known as a “Shade Tree Mechanic” and loved to work on his 1967 Mercury Cougar. He was a member of American Legion Post 7 and VFW Post 2689. He loved his Arkansas Razorbacks and was an avid animal lover.
Roger was born on October 1, 1963 in Huntington the son of the late Max Heffelfinger and Margaret (Haneline) Thoma.
He was united in marriage to Christine Rice on December 31, 1990 in Huntington. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include three children: Krystal (William “Eric”) Morrow of Huntington, Edward Heffelfinger of Huntington, and Cori Heffelfinger of Huntington; two sisters, a brother, and two grandchildren: Kylie Morrow, and William Morrow.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Max Heffelfinger and Margaret Thomas, and his stepmother: Betty (White) Heffelfinger.
A graveside burial of ashes will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday August 26, 2023 at Zion Cemetery.
