Gary L. Meyer, 74, of Huntington, passed away Friday evening August 18, 2023, at the Parkview Huntington Hospital. Gary had worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for several years and most recently, he worked for Ecolab in Huntington for 28 years until his retirement in 2011. He was a 1967 graduate of Huntington High School and a 1969 graduate of International Business College in Fort Wayne. Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1969 – 1971. He was deployed overseas in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Gary loved the outdoors and did anything and everything it had to offer.
Gary was born on February 13, 1949, in Huntington, a son of the late Alfred and Marjorie (Scher) Meyer.
His first marriage was to Cynthia Cox and later married Emily K. Kinsey on November 1, 2001, in West Virginia. Emily survives.
Additional survivors include two sons: Andrew (Stephanie) Meyer and Matthew Meyer; a stepson: Austin (Caitlyn) Kinsey; a stepdaughter: Rachel Kinsey; a grandson: Matthew Meyer; a great granddaughter: Aaliyah; step grandchildren: Abel, Connor, Aurora and Cooper; two brothers: Ronald (Pauline) Meyer and Dan (Marinda) Meyer; three sisters: Carol (James) Krumanaker, Marla (Kenneth) Johnson and Kathy (Mark) Beckman; and a sister in law: Kay Meyer.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Meyer.
Visitation will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.
Memorial Services will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel with Father Tony Steinacker officiating.
